Interactive Student Activities
Sorting Activities
Students could use ActivInspire to complete word sorts. For the younger grades, students might look at pictures and have to sort the pictures by the sound they hear in the word. Below is an example of a typical word sort page. I like using a flipchart because it's quick and easy to prepare and to push out to my students, and it allows them to quickly fix mistakes if they sort them wrong. No time spent erasing and rewriting! Place Value Practice
Within the ActivInspire resource pack there are math manipulatives such as base 10 blocks. Students could build the number using base ten blocks or identify what the number is by using them. See the video below that I made as an example. |
Labeling Activities
Students could be given a blank diagram in Science or a map in Social Studies and be asked to identify and label things on it. Below, I made a very quick example of an easy task students could do. Create Visuals
If the resource pack is available, students can create scenes or visual representations of things they are learning about using the rubber stamps. In third grade, we spend all of unit 2 in ELA talking about fables and folktales. Below is a scene my students could create if I had them complete a task like this. I could extend it by having them explain in words how the moral or the lesson is learned in the fable. |
Identifying Sentences
This activity is helpful for students to identify the different types of sentences and punctuation that goes with it. I have not used this personally, but this could be a good resource for the primary grades. Click here to see the activity found on TPT! |
Identifying Word Sounds
In this activity, students say the name of the object pictured and identify where a specific sound is located by placing a red counter where they hear the sound. This activity would be ideal for pre-k or kindergarten. Click here to see the flipchart! |
